Simon (the) Cowl

After a year of not-doing-any, I’ve finally got back into knitting and finished my sort-of-scarf.  I say sort-of because I made it a bit too wide, and ran out of wool (two skeins, from K1 Yarns, Edinburgh) before I was happy with the length.

So it’s really more of a cowl than a scarf, hence ‘Simon’.

Still blimmin warm though.  It’s a variable thickness wool (I am not sure what kind) and this seems to work very well as an insulator (by trapping pockets of air, I reckon).

I knitted it with my big, plastic 12mm needles (if you use thick wool and big needles, you make progress quicker, plus it looks funny), and am excited about finishing it for three reasons:

  1. I can wear it and have a warm neck
  2. After two years of on-and-off knitting (mostly off), I can start a new project
  3. It’ll be an excellent prop for my upcoming gritty, knitty, gangster flick:

Scarf Ace, starring Al Pacino

(Note: I am not making a gritty, knitty gangster flick. But I wish I was)
